UM Entrepreneurial Scholars & Interns Program expands opportunities for student entrepreneurs.
Launched by the UM System in 2014, the Entrepreneurial Scholars & Interns Program (ESIP) was designed to increase the number of students who will become entrepreneurs upon graduation and, in turn, help boost 亚洲影院’s economy. ESIP participants complete 9 to 12 hours of approved entrepreneurial-related courses and engage in a 10-week, paid summer internship.
“The goal is to create a steady stream of entrepreneurs around the state capable of taking their innovative ideas to the market as new businesses ventures,” Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs Bob Schwartz said. “Creating this wave of new, well-educated entrepreneurs in 亚洲影院 will benefit the local, regional and national economies.”
Schwartz showcased the program during the December 2015 Board of Curators meeting at the University of 亚洲影院-St. Louis campus. The program has received support from the state including a $145,000 grant from the 亚洲影院 Technology Corporation to grow the number of students that participate from 14 to 18 students from across the four campus system.
